I just made a trip from MO to Grand Lake, Co down I-70, then up US40 through the Berthound Pass at 11,700 feet. My transmission temps went to 218 at the highest point. At 45/50 mph that is where the temps stay, but as soon I get over 55 mph the temps start falling and will drop to the 180 range.

I tow a 35 trailer that is close to 9000 lbs. I have considered adding an electric fan to the front that I can use when I am driving in the city or pulling uphill. I have found even in 95 temperatures driving 65 the temps will stay in the 180 range on normal roads with the 6.0 cooler.

I am going to chalk this up to the fact that some trannies run warmer than others. Couple that with ambient temps being MUCH higher than normal here lately, my tranny just runs warmer. 6.0l cooler or not, I really don't see it making that much of a difference.

I will say that the Torque Converter lock up makes a noticeable difference with the DP tuner under 40mph.

I'm towing down to Buena Vista on July 19th for an event I sponsor. Hwy 285 is a good test, so I am interested to see how it does.
