RHPed 7.5L feels sluggish

97 F-350 (conv) 7.5L E4OD 4x4

I just got done putting the RHP (scott) upgrades in the truck, taking off the air injection and Pollution pump and plugging up the vacuum lines unused. I set the adjustable FPR at 42 PSI with vacuum disconnected, capped off the EGR (but left it plugged into to vacuum and wiring harness), set the timing with a vacuum gauge (hits about 20 HG). I installed brand new motorcraft platnum Spark plugs gapped at .44. I checked the wiring to make sure none of the sequential firing spark plugs' wires were next to each other. And redid all the gaskets in the upper engine and the oil pan. Im running 10w40 Amsoil with 1 qt lucas on a FL1A filter. I put in the street stock midlength headman headers and then Cat after Im running the old stock system. Intake is stock too minus the part that goes from the filter box to the rad support, that was taken off.

Im giving you all these details because even after all this, the truck is running more sluggish than BEFORE I put the upgrades on. I did everything to scotts instructions, so im not going to bug him... again. And Im also going to start where I would have messed up on installation or design/planning. Where do I start looking? Exhaust and intake are next, so if thats most likely my issue then awesome.

That's probably where the problem is. Get a timing light, remove the spout plug in the TFI wiring harness to disable computer adcance, and set the base timing at 12-14 deg. Reinsert the spout and take it for a drive to make sure it's not detonating(pinging) under load and you should see an improvement.

What upgrades did you do? Of course start with the simple checks first as stated, but did this involve a new cam? If so are you sure your cam timing is correct and you followed correct break in?

New cam, heads, headers, intake. The heads and intake were ported and port matched. The cam was correctly timed and Broke in (20 minutes at 2000 RPM). And FPR was set at 42 psi with the vaccum hose off of it. At frist it was set high, but It was only ran enough after problem was to discovered to set fuel pressure lower. After that I drained oil ran cheap stuff through and put in amsoil
