HELP! 5.4 Expedition Motor for my Superduty
I was blessed by a tenant who abandoned a 2000 F250 5.4 triton, behind my barn. After a few months work, I managed to get a title for it. Awesome Right? Turns out the motor and engine harness was missing.
I got my hands on a CD 1999 Expedition with the 5.4L. I was scratching my head. It looks like the Expedition ECU is on the passenger side of the Expedition and the Superduty has it on the left.
Will the expedition harness from the Expedition still fit?
Can I relocate my Superduty Computer to fit the Expedition Harness?
Will the Expedition Computer work in my Superduty?
Will I be searching for a new Engine Harness or a new Donor Vehicle?
I have been told you guys know your stuff, and I need help. I know I asked a quite a few questions. If you can answer one or all, it would help. Thanks

while you can make the Expy motor work in that SD...the major problem will be the whole wiring harness being missing. you might be better off seeing if a junkyard will trade you the Expy/motor/trans for a junkyard 5.4 2v motor from a 99-2004 5.4 2v motor/harness from a SD.
Another problem will be that the Expy has PATS and the SD doesn't. So the Expy PCM won't wanna play without alot of tweaking and reprogramming.
overall, I'd get the correct motor/harness and just skipp all the hassle. It'd be even easier if you can get a whole wrecked donor truck to park next to it and swap out parts/pieces until she fires up

if anyone's interested...I put the expedition motor into my SD.
The only hick-up was with the motor mounts. The Expy lower block casting must be a little different than the SD. I had to make a 1inch bushing on the driver side so the 4th bolt would mount to the factory threads without flexing the mount. The passenger side SD mount had no mounting holes in the block. I reused the expy mount from the passenger side and drilled matching holes into the cross-member.
