Where is the proper mounting place for the negative battery cable end?

Are we talking factory original or just make it start and run. Factory original, I haven't a clue. Make it run, anywhere on the engine it will reach. I think mine was on one of the bellhousing bolts. Oh yah the other end goes to the - battery terminal.
