Replaced side gas tank, now I need a filler hose

I just replaced my gas tank but I need to find the filler hose. I dont understand exactly what I need, I know there is the outer rubber house and the inner plastic hose but cant seem to find much information on where i can buy these parts new or if I even need the inner hose. Does anybody have any experience with this?

Welcome to FTE

Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent details.

What year is the truck, what series? Which tank did you replace, mid-ship (in front of the L/R wheel) or aft axle (behind the L/R wheel)? Is it a plastic or steel tank? Styleside pickup?

One neoprene rubber filler hose does not fit all...and on some, the hose is not available by itself, as Ford only supplied it with fuel filler tube.

The inner hose serves as a vent to let the air escape as it's replaced by incoming gasoline. Without it, fill-ups can take 30 minutes.

Or even longer if you have a 1973/79, cuz the filler necks have sharp curves, the separate vent hoses can collapse if not taped to the filler hoses.

So, it could take over an hour just to fill one tank, cuz almost as much gas sloshes out, as you're tryin' to put it in, I kid you not.

With gas at 4 bucks a gallon, it could cost 30-50% more to fill one tank, unless you get your sponge out, use it to sop up the sloshed gas layin' on the pavement.

get a filler from a late 80's truck.it's a different style .only mod is to get rid of inner metal tube in gas tank inlet(holds the little inner flexible plastic tube).i just carefully used visegrips and small prybar to work the spotwelds loose.older style has inner tube as breather and outer metal as filler but newer is reversed with the bigger inner as fill.WAY faster fill now
