Trans leak?

OK HEEEEELLLP! I have a 2004 f150 4x4 with a 5.4. i have been leaking some fluid for a few months now but when i check oil and transmission both fluid leavels are fine. i crawed under and it looks like something is leaking near engine and trans meeting and fluid looks reddish making me think its trans. now this week i develpoped a wineing sound when truck moves. again i re checked oil and trans fluid leveals and are all good. i was going to check transfer case but it is way behind leak and dry. Any sugestions before i shell out transmission repair guy loot.

thanks Dave

How much is dripping? Is it drops or a puddle? If drops fasket might be worn out on the pan. Should be able to change that fairly cheaply

How are the levels on your other fluid? coolant, brake, power steering....

Maybe something is leaking up high and running down the block/bell housing

A drip the size of a fifty cent piece is really not that bad. Still find where the leak is from, but if money I would just keep on driving it. I would keep an eye on the fluids though

Go to a outdoor DIY car wash, wash the area in question with the high pressure nozzle. This will allow you to see exactly where it's coming from. It's it's the pan, not an problem. Post a pic if you need more help.

It could be the torque convertor seal. They start out slow usually and within a few 1000 miles it becomes Iffy the thing will last another oil change.

Are you checking the transmission fluid with it hot and the engine running in park?
Sorry but I had to ask.

^ a valid question.

You might also check that the pan bolts are all snug (120 inch lbs tq).
