Another Switch Question

I know the toggle switch question has been beaten to death but mine isnt more about where it is how. I am adding some emergency lights to my 2008 F150 and want to put toggles in where the ash tray is. I have seen some pictures of how people had it done but cant find a single forum where people explain what they used to make the mount and how they did it. I am trying to figure out what people are using to cover the tray up and mount the switches. Like I said earlier I have seen a picture of 2 of switches installed where the ashtray is but I cant tell or find what material they used to make it.

well you could cut off the ashtray until the ashtray door is left and maybe make a custom metal box for all the wires and the module to fix in and also make some brackets to mount to the inside dash, do u use the ashtray, it's easy, its like an aftermarket radio.
if you decide not to put a Emergency Light There then you could put it on your review mirror like this

u can reprogram the buttons and mirror to turn on your emergency lights and maybe sand the buttons and make it custom
here's a web site: Auto Dim Mirror w/Homelink Compass and Temperature NEW | eBay

If you only need 2 switches I would use the plate the lighter is mounted on. That's what I used and it is real easy, pops right out and already has markings on the back to help center your switches.

Otherwise I would remove the ashtray assembly and cut a piece of aluminum or stainless to fit that hole. Then position switches into it and screw into place. And if you need more room for the wires and stuff, I would place that under the lower trim piece near the floor.

That's the switch I did, and there is room for another one on the left side of the lighter

Yep, the cig lighter panel is the easiest. My truck has the parking sensor button on one side, and the cig lighter on the other. The only slot left is th middle and I am going to find a nice looking switch to put there to control my reverse lights. Plus that panel is super easy to get out and trim holes in.
