Thanks

The only modification I can tell is a power steering conversion bought from LMC with receipts in a folder the previous owner gave me. I still have the power assist that was on the truck. Is there a market for those parts?

Could you take pics of this LMC power steering conversion? i'd be extremely interested in seeing them if you could.

If the power cylinder and control valve from the old power assist are in working order and not leaking there's always a market for them.
Just over the past few days there's been 3-4 posts from guys wanting/needing a power cylinder.

It's hard to tell from the pics but your hubs do not look like the big ball D44HD Spicer hubs, are they aftermarket?
Or do you have the small ball D44 Spicer hubs? the former is the 3550# axle, the latter is the 3300# axle.

power steering pic

I'm sorry I was wrong the steering conversion came from Benchwork steering. I have included pics of both the steering and the hubs. I am new and still trying to learn the what is original. Any help for a new guy is greatly appreciated. I was also wonder about the color the factory tag shows a KW code witch is red (K) and white (W). ??

OK, that makes sense, i'm familiar with Benchworks conversion, i've just never heard of the LMC conversion, hence my pic request.

As for the hubs, they are aftermarket "Mile Marker" hubs, do you know if your truck was originally full-time 4wd and converted to part-time? which would explain the addition of the MM hubs.

Or was it originally part-time 4wd and the OP just swapped out the factory hubs?

Not sure on the full time part time 4wd. Maybe it not as original as I thought

Okay, (stupid question ALERT)will the factory tag answer some of these questions for me? it does have the shifter for 2wd 4 hi and 4 lo....if it was converted someone did a very good job. it looks factory.

Also the steering is very very light. i am think a stabilizer will stiffen things up a little..? any thoughts?

BTW thanks for the help

If it has a part-time conversion kit your shift pattern will be like that below (keep in mind it doesn't necessarily mean the shifter **** was changed).

4x4 Low
2x4 low
Neutral
2x4 High
4x4 High

Factory part-time has no 2x4 low.

NP205 is the part-time T-case.

NP203 is the full-time T-case.

If you have the NP205 (part-time) you will have the 3-bolt idler plate in the center of the T-case as depicted below.

Thanks Montanna

Thank you Sir!. I have the 205 with the three bolt plate. I have learned more tonight than the last weeks research. I appreciate your time and sharing your knowledge!

No problem DC, i love these old highboys and i'm glad to help out where i can.

The 205 (gear drive) is a much better case than the 203 (chain drive) so kudos there.

You have an awesome specimen on your hands, thanks for sharing.

Do you have any more pics of this rig DC, i love looking at the original unmolested stuff.

I officially hate you right now , that's a nice highboy, would it be too crass to ask what you paid?

Please don't tell me $500

Nice looking highboy DoubleChicken. I too have a 76 highboy that is in the process of a frame-off restoration. Hope mine looks a good as yours when I'm done. What state did you find that stud in? I too have the benchwork system. Haven't had a chance to test it yet. I figured I would have to put a steering stabilizer on also. Good luck and keep us posted.

more pics

Here are some more pics before restoration. Thanks for the interest. I really want to put cab lights on it but I dont want to stray from original... what is everyone's opinion?

Hickory this is the state I found it in. I have done nothing except wash it...

the paint is crackled and minor rust in some of the pics

The steering is very light for such a big rig. i like a little more stiffness. I was hoping a stabilizer would help

Just my .02's but you couldn't pay me enough money to drill holes in a pristine cab to mount lights. Just takes one to leak a little, not enough to notice, and have the top rust out.

I'm having to replace the entire cab because of a CB antenna leak! The doors still close like new....

Great low mileage find! Congrats on having a very clean survivor!!

Edit: Ok so the bed has some issues; still very nice truck.
