I just purchase a F250 with the 6.7 Diesel. The MPG on the LCD screen is showing 10.5 MPG and I have about 160 miles on now. It's mostly around town driving. Can I expect to get better MPG as I drive more? WHat should I expect for MPG? I do have a 6" Pro Comp lift and 37" tires. Thanks for your help!

 

You Should Get Better If you Drive More Highway Than City I Have A 2012 F250 With A 8.5 Skyjacker Lift and 37'' As Well I Get 11.5 MPG With A Diesel Supplement.

 

I have an unlifted 2012 F250, with 3.31 rear gear, and get around 16.5-17 around town, and >19 on the highway if I stay under 75. Got 20.5 on the way towards Dallas last Sunday (100 miles) and 18.4 on the way back (100 miles, had a regen)

the sweet spot seems to be around 1500 rpm. I don't know what the translates to on a big tire truck. The wind effect of the lift won't help either. What gear ratio do you have? 3.55?

did they reprogram the truck for the different tire size? If not, then all the numbers are goofy.

Sometimes because of the bigger tire, you have to regear to a higher numbered ratio to get the right overall ratio back.

the tire size calculator I use says that if the speedo reads 65, with a 37 in tire vs a 31in tire, you are really going about 77 mph.... so traveling further than the computer thinks.. (ie, more MILES per gallon) were your measurements from the dash, or hand calculated?

Hmm (3.55 for me) I get around 15/17 mpg just town driving, get 20ish on the highway. Your are pushing heavier tires now...

 

Most folks aren't seeing any mileage improvement. I never have.

I'm not using an additive because of a MPG improvement.
If there is one, I stopped caring a long time ago because I can't notice it.

I have a 2011 4X2 with a 3:31 rear end CC 6.7 Diesel SB with 22,000 miles. No lifts or big tires and can get 27.5 mpg at 55 if I need to, but I drive at 65-70 and get 22-24 mpg depending on conditions, like wind and hills highway driving... You guys have really nice Cool looking Trucks with the 4X4, 37" tires and lifts, but paying through the nose for it at the fuel stops..

I get 17-18 mpg Towing my 8500# RV Trailer again depending on conditions... The difference between hand Cal mpg and our Dash Meter is called Idling Time.. I just got back from a vacation trip to Alaska and never got less than 15 MPG across the Rookies through the USA & Canada and back home a 10,000 mile trip.. This truck is a dream to drive and Towing.. The best thing was, no problems with truck at all.....

 

I use diesel kleen and see no difference in mileage. I have 35's and a baby lift, but I still get 14-15 in town and I don't have a light foot. Problem is I only get about 16 on the highway when I'm trying my hardest to get good mileage. My truck is just a thirsty pig and I'm an enabler.
