That is the whole trick to it, I'm not really wanting to get in a hurry to move either. The one additional benefit of moving is that it would move me much closer to a stronger market that is where a lot of the engineering jobs are. There are some in the local area, but they seem to be too hung up on the experience angle. I am a recent college grad, but have been on the production and service side of the equation for 20 some years...

Good morning Iowa, Friday is upon us! Roger, I'll be curious to see how this whole deal shakes out. I hope you can work something out. I have about a 35 minute commute. I don't mind it, it's all highway outside of town, and not much traffic at 6:30 in the morning.

The good thing about both locations is that it is all 4 lane or well traveled roads, so I can generally get along pretty good, and if something did go sideways, there will be somebody along shortly. I did the 60 mile commute for 5 years in South Dakota, but gas was a lot less then, but if they pay what I am looking for, then it won't be a big problem. These are both a bit longer than that though... 74 and 80

I will continue running my little Neon. I have a total of about $600 invested in it and have been driving it for 2 years.

I've been thinking of getting something for just driving to work. I'm putting way too many miles on the 06, and the price of diesel isn't helping either!

That's how I have done it for a long time, run the econobeaters then have better vehicles that don't get all the miles on them.

I've got to get the wife's truck replace first. She's been complaining about it for a while, and I'd never hear the end of it if I suggested getting another vehicle for myself!LOL

My wife already has and generally always has the newer, nicer vehicle. That is partially because I refuse to pay big money on a vehicle for myself I hate making much if any payments on them) and I know how the vehicle will be treated, and would prefer not to put parts and such in a really nice vehicle...

I did the Dual Sport motorcycle (XR650L) for a while. Never felt comfortable around cars, especially since we are a one income family. Sold the bike and either drive the $8k Excursion (14 mpg gas)or the $5k Odyssey (21 mpg gas).

Well, I got the last nice vehicle, so it's her turn. We usually keep vehicles for 10-15 years, so I don't mind buying new ones, since we'll get our money's worth out of them. This will be her first brand-new vehicle, so she's pretty excited!

Morning Scott! I'd be the same on a bike, just too uncomfortable on the highway with it.

Good morning and have a fantastic Friday Iowa

I feel the same Roger about car payments, none is best. I bang around in a 97 escort wagon I bought for $800. The wife drives the newer rigs. Right now her DD is 04 VW TDI Jetta wagon
