Diesel_Brad, you've got a lot of trucks and I don't always keep them straight in your posts, but did you change from the S code to the U code in your '96? How's the ride compare among the S, U, and V code springs? Do you think there's a big difference in weight on the front of a crew cab 460 truck vs a regular cab 460?

How much lift (or not) do each of the springs alone provide?

In my 460 truck I just went w U codes(4800lbs). The reason being is the 460 is almost 200lbs less than the powerstroke and the V code(5200lbs) is the choice for them.
The crewcabs have quite a bit more front axle weight than a reg cab. I know when add-a-leafs are sold for a crew cab, they put 2 leafs PER pack in the front. A reg cab only get one leaf.

For a reg cab I would be looking at a T code (4400lb)

As for height difference, I dont think there is much till you go to an X code(snow plow prep 6000lb)

I've been doing some research into both CT Peformance's & PMF's RSKs. Which do you prefer and why? It sounds like Cary has an updated RSK which doesn't require cutting a welding or a bumper trim like the original, but it costs quite a bit more than PMF's RSK. I'm talking to Cary now on options and pricing, but I want a third party opinion from somebody who's used both.

I like the PMF RSK as it is a bolt in piece that did not mean removing the rear hanger. I am happy to see that SKY reworked the kit not require bumper cutting etc to used SD springs.

I haven't gotten details yet, but this is from an email I received from Cary today on the rear hanger:

...with rear front spring frame mounts for better shackle angle, made for SD springs...
Is there a need for this? It seems Cary is the go to guy for these swaps, so I assume he should know. I'll ask in my next email to him.

PMF hands down. Cary is pushing the SKY kit because he is a sky dealer. The same reason a Ford dealer wants to sell you a Ford and not a chevy.

Tom listed the reasons why a PMF kit is better than the SKY on top of the OBVIOUS price difference

I will also add that PMF was good to work with on getting my kit customized. I kind have a mix and match setup with the RSK from PMF and most of the rest of the parts from Cary.

Has anyone seen this kit on an '87-'91? I'm ok with drilling holes, but I don't like cutting stuff. Is it confirmed that it'll work with the bricknoses?

Also, does anyone have a part number for U code front springs? And B code rear springs? The B code rears are the optimal choice, right? I've got an '89 CCLB with the 460.

So the fitment should really say "Fits 87-96, 87-91 some fabrication required"

No, it says 92-97.

If you want to put it on a ranger some fitment is required

It's listed on the PMF site in the 88-97 category and your initial post says 86-97.

I know that the frames are different, and that's fine, but the information currently available says it fits, and it bolts on.

Looking at the pics, I wonder if you could get away with just using the outside frame mounts? I'm no structural engineer, but I think not having the inside two bolts would be ok.
