1987 F150 w/9" & 35's
Just became the owner of this truck a mere 5 hrs ago. Its got a mildly built 351W, C6, 9" of lift and 35's!!! The only problem is that a sat for a year and it somehow got water through the intake and into the heads so Im gonna have them machined so it can be put together.
The plans are to bob the bed maybe trim fenders and slap some 36's or 37's. Ill take more pics in a bit.
Any ideas ect lmk this is my first Ford ever so Im sure you guys know some tricks/info I dont.

Did it do that when you backed it up? It's most likely from the lift that it does that, but I have yet to see a lifted TTB that doesn't do that when it gets backed up, especially with big tires and offset rims. So as far as I'm concerned its normal. But still, I'd look over everything underneath and see how it looks to be safe.
Nice truck though, paint job is kinda neat.

These trucks have aluminum alignment bushings in the front end that affect the camber. I was told that anything over 2 inches of lift you definitely needed a drop bracket rot make it line up properly and that sometimes you would anyway depending on how it lined up. My experience has been that the bushings eventually wear out and you have to replace them when you do an alignment. I've done it twice now approaching 200k miles. Last time was in the course of ball joints,u joints etc. Pretty cool truck! Good luck and have fun

Any truck/bronco with a 351w came with a C6 until 1990 then they cam with a E4OD. If you want a overdrive tranny you can swap in a AOD trans.
If you do a AOD swap you will probably need a tranny cross member, drive shafts will change, Lockar kick down cable (connects the AOD TV (Detent or kickdown) cable to a holley 4bbl. A flexplate from a 1988 CrownVic (the only applicatioin that came with the 351w/AOD combo) and then just the shifter indicator from a AOD trans. You can also beef up a AOD buy adding bigger clutch pack drums, kelvar bands, and harden input shafts. The bigger clutch pack drums and harden shafts can be found in a AODE tranny.
I run a 351w/AOD combo and did what I suggested above.
