Vent visors: In channel or Tape on?

Trying to decide which style of window vent visor would be better, the in-channel version or the tape on style?
We have some tape on visors on a truck that are starting to peel off, after 3 years.
Thanks

I've got MossyOak camo visors.... they are the tape/stick on style. I got them about 3-4 years ago from Cabelas. When I put them on I had to make sure I had them where I wanted them because once they stuck, that's where they were staying lol Thats my experience. I've heard pros and cons about both styles.

I have EGR in channel visors on my super cab. My used to have the stick on ventshades but he kept having them come loose. He cleaned everything up good but they just didn't want to stay put. He now has the EGR in channels on his crew cab. Only downside I have found with the EGR visor is they can rattle when the window is down part way. Not a big deal but it can be annoying. Some of the in channels from other companies (like ventshade) have double sided tape on the inside to help keep them in place. I put those on my moms Explorer. They stayed put but a LOT thinner than the EGRs. I prefer the in channel myself.

I have the OEM stick on visors. They have been on for a couple of years now, and they have been great. Good luck.

Have 3 guys at work with the channel vents.....they do not stay very good so I went with Vent Visors stick-on....no problems at all. Had them on some other vehicles and all worked well.

Back in 2008 I tried two sets of stick on. I'm just as aware and capable as most of you on doing proper prep work, but they kept coming loose.

Went with weathertech in channel, never going back.

Chromed in channel

I found some of the short chrome metal ones. They are fastened with tiny metal screws. I found them on fleabay. I have had the stick on before but I wanted to stay with the chrome look to go with the rest of this truck.

i went with weathertech channels as well for the look and they are more forgiving in the aggressive carwashes...which i'm ashamed to say, i use more and more these days.

My last truck had tape on and they were fine. I always thought that they would loosen up some day but they didn't. For my new truck, I got the Weathertech in-channel ones. They fit well, do not rattle or move and look better IMO compared to the tape on.

Well said. Preporation is the key. I received four little alcohol swabs with mine, one for each visor. The swabs were so dirty when I got done with each one, I went and got a bottle of alcohol and paper towels, and kept cleaning the rubber strip on each window. Mine have been on for a couple of years now, and there is no sign of them coming loose.

I have had my truck for almost 4 years. It came with stick on visors, and they are still on tight.

But I do have one problam, one of them on my back door has cracked. So how do I remove it? I don't want to damage the paint by just pulling.

Thanks.

I've had the in-channel on 3 different trucks now plus 3 work vans and have not had an issue with any of them. I prefer the look of the channel visor, looks cleaner IMO

Use a piece of fishing line to cut the tape, "magic" eraser does the rest.

I like the tape ons better. My window caught the edge of the In channel one and broke it. Although the inchannels look better imo
