questions about converting a automatic to standard
I have a 86 f250 6.9 4x4 auto and I want to put a standard transmission in it.
Im wondering what options I have for a transmission. Im pretty sure they came with the a 4 speed standard transmission. Im wondering if there is a 5 speed transmission that fits?
also will a 4 speed from a 2wheel drive 6.9L work in a 4x4?

Yes yes and no. you can use the T19 4spd, the ZF5 5spd you could even use the zf6 6spd. from a SD 7.3 psd
2wd trans will not work with a married t-case at any rate, best to stick to 4x4 trans. Except, the F-superduty ZF5 is actually a 4x4 trans with the driveline brake in place of a transfer case, so you could find one of those.
