brake lights and turn signals inop after steering wheel install.

Ok, so I have completed the power steering/brake swap on my 68 f100. In doing so I had to switch out the steering column as well. After buttoning it all up and getting the wiring figured out I was good to go, all of my lights worked. Just recently I switched out the steering wheel for a grant wheel. While there I was going to switch out the turn signal cam. Took off the old one and put on the new one exactly how the old one came off. I dont remember why but I ended up using the old one. Anyways, pretty much I dont have brake lights or signals. All my fuses look good, and I can only find 1 flasher relay. Its the one mounted to the dash bracing behind gauge cluster. I have read that the other one is mounted to the back of the gauge cluster on the drivers side. The only thing I find there is a square looking "relay". At first it looked like I could just swap the 552 flasher, but it has 1 male and 1 female spade type connections, where as the 552 flasher has the 2 male connectors.

On my 70 the flasher is directly above and behind the light switch, and the other is directly above and behind the emergency flasher switch. Both of the flashers have two male connectors. Hope that helps.

I know that the turn signal switch controls both turn and brake lights on our trucks. It sounds like to me that in your last job on the turn signal switch either you have broken a connection or possibly are grounding out without going through the switch to the lights.

Yeah, I have taken it apart a few times now. Nothing visibly wrong with it, im leaning towards replacing it anyways. I would like to find this mystery flasher for my signals just in case, and its cheaper to replace.

1970/72 is not the same as the following:

1967/69 F100/350: The 4 way emergency flasher switch is located on the inside of the glovebox, mounted to a bracket.

Its flasher nestles into a bracket that uses one screw to attach it, located under the dash to the left of the glovebox.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1967/69 F100/350: The turn signal flasher plugs into the backside of the instrument cluster, far left (drivers) side upper corner.

Suggest disconnecting a battery cable for safety, before reaching up there to get at that flasher, as there's all sorts of wiring, some of it probably frayed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C9TZ-13341-C .. T/S Switch / Available from Ford.

Applications: 1965/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD / 1967/68 F100/350 / 1969 F100/350 before serial number G30,001.

MSRP: $61.98 // FTE sponsor tousleyfordparts.com price: $40.91.

Note: Both flashers were installed in 1965/79 FoMoCo Passenger Cars, F100/350's, Bronco's & Econolines. Both look identical, are round w/two prongs. But the 4 way flasher is a H/D unit, has a louder CLICK.

The 4 way flasher can be substituted for the T/S flasher (and was with trailer tow, ppl that are deaf), but not t'other way around.

I havent looked over by the glove box yet, but I see 1 round flasher attached to the dash/column bracing behind the gauge cluster, and 1 square flasher attached to the gauge cluster on the back of the drivers side.

I've never seen a square flasher, all FoMoCo flashers were round.

I've replaced just the cancelling cam before and not always a successful operation. It's best to just put in a whole new switch.

Ok so I got my part in from touselyford but it was the wrong turn signal switch. It looks as though it is the switch for a 68f100 and not the 78150 column that I have in my 68(my fault for not specifying). The 3 mounting screws didnt all line up in the switch housing, only 2 did. Anyways, since its a 68 truck the wires were easily placed into there pin slots. No extra wires to worry about. But since it was a different part I dont think it is either 1) gounded correctly or 2) it wasnt my turn signal switch that was faulty. Still no brakes or turn signals.

There are 3 1978/79 T/S switches, 2 are available from Ford, one is obsolete. The same switches: 1978/79 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline.

#1: D8TZ-13341-A = Use with Tilt Wheel / MSRP: $150.02 / tousleyfordparts.com price: $99.01.

#2: D8TZ-13341-B = Use with A/T without Tilt Wheel / MSRP: $110.00 / tousleyfordparts.com price: $72.60.

#3: D8TZ-13341-C = Use with M/T without Tilt Wheel / Prices appear on Tousleys site, but I think it's obsolete, as there's no PDC status for it / 12 available NOS

Tilt wheel feature works off T/S handle. Gently press it forward, if Tilt Wheel present: BOING!

OK, I have kind of put this off for a couple of months now. Classes have started back up and im driving my truck every day again, so I need to get these lights working. I pulled open my original 68 steering column to see how the TSS was mounted, I have a new 68 turn signal switch mounted in a 78 steering column exactly how it is mounted in the 68 column, so I dont think that it is a grounding issue with the TSS. Since its a 68 truck it should be a plug and play experience, so now I am ruling out the TSS as a culprit. Onto my tailights, the running lights work. I have no turn signals, brakes, or back up lights. Here are some pics of my flashers.
Square flasher on back of gauge cluster, I have heard from you guys that it should be a round one like this one.
