Trying to find match for this Ford wheel

Looking for leads of people old enough to have knowledge of 40's-60's Ford dump truck wheels, duals.
I have a pic of the wheel I am looking for but not able to attach here.

The only description I was supplied with is not very helpful I'm afraid.

This wheel is Ford 17" 8 lug, 7.00-17 6 bias ply tire size.
Supposedly a 1960's era "widow maker" inside dump ford truck
The hubcap pops over the raised rib...no 3 or 4 nibs welded that hold the cap on
We had dumps...65 and newer and this doesn't look of this vintage.

I've learned to "never say never", but I don't know of anything that matches your description. An 8 lug dually would have first been found after 1966, but would not have been a 17", and would not use a hub cap. So I'm scratching my head. If you want to send me the picture I'll post it and see what we can make of it. Email is stu_sandymcmillan at sbcglobal dot net. Stu

If you have a photobucket account or something of the sort you can link the picture right to the post your trying to enter it onto.

That is the way I prefer to do it at least.

I have seen an International one ton dually with factory hubcaps.....'30's-'40's vintage. Dunno if they were 17" or 8 lug though....
that truck looked really sweet with the caps on....

Yeah, could be. Agree that I've seen hub caps on old duallies, but seems the ones I remember were used with demountable spoke wheels. Like on Diamond Ts with Clarks or Daytons. Only way to know what we've got here is to see a picture. Stu

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

That's a standard F-3 widow maker. Not a dually wheel. The center is riveted to the raised band area which is the joint. Here's a picture of one of my widow makers to compare. Stu

As pictured in post #10:

7RY-1007 .. 17" x 5.5" Wheel-Use with Single Rear Wheels / 8 lug, 6.50" bolt circle / Marked: 49380 / Use with 7.00 & 7.50 17" bias ply tires / Use with "innie" hubcaps.

7RY-1099 .. Side Ring.

Applications: 1948/52 F2/F3 / Optional: 1953/66 F250 2WD & 1959/66 F250 4WD.

Innie: So called because the hubcap snaps onto tabs located on the inside of the wheels center section.

FoMoCo didn't offer front hubcaps for 4WD's until 1967, and these are "outies." Snap over tabs located on the outside of the wheels center section.

* FoMoCo didn't offer radial tires for trucks until the 1970's and then only as an option.

Radials invented by Michelin, first vehicle to have them as standard equipment: 1955 FWD Citroen 1D19. Citroen owned by Michelin back then.

First US vehicle to have radials as standard equipment: 1966 FWD Oldsmobile Toronado.

Joe,
Your knowledge / talents are amazing...I'm humbled.
Now knowing what these are will enable me to move forward with completing this phase of project...and get body/paint complete.
I have a 1947 Ford Panel Truck that I have set on 1997 E-350 dually, rolling chassis-with 7.3 D.
Having cut the frame to narrow at the back of the block left me with a wider stance in the front to deal with. I have replaced the dually hubs with the 1 ton inline hubs but yet need about 3" more offset to pull tires back under the fender. Having found this mystery wheel to fit perfect on the truck I will be using the center only and replacing the ring with offset to gain the 3" and eliminate the existing wheel strike on fenders when turning and or compression of coil on turn. I wanted the nostalgic look for my vintage and am not a fan of alloy wheels ( which would have been ez to make)
I'm not a fan of being online much...cuts down on my getting hands-on with work getting done but would be glad to talk on telephone.
Either way...thanks for your help, I do greatly appreciate.

Stu,
A picture is worth a million words.
This is exact match...amazing.
You guys are great!
I have went from not having a clue to knowing the history of the wheel as Joe and you have provided.
Armed with this information...I know where I can probably find these wheels that I wouldn't have even thought of before now. My info-telephone is listed on the reply sent to Joe...would be enjoyable to talk.

Thanks again,
Randall
