Need help identifying engine parts

I am working on a 1958 F100 with a Y-block 272 motor. I am just starting on my project and noticed things are a little different then todays motors and I have a lot to learn with this project. Anyways I am trying to figure out what these three items on my motor are. If any one could help it would be greatly appreciated.

1.) I am assuming this is a fuel pump or filter

2.) I am not sure if this is an oil filter of some sort.

3.) ?

3 is the oil filter canister. There is a replacable element inside. Not sure what no. 2 is right off hand.

You should consider buying a shop manual, it will be you good friend! Tons of helpful and interesting info.

Number 3 is the oil filter canister, like Spurdon said. Number 2 it the crank case blow-by filter. Number 1 is the fuel pump!
Good luck in your quest!

Thank you

Thanks you so much guys! I will have to see if I can round up some conversion kit so I can use a spin on oil filter commonly sold today. I think i will need to round up a manual to the shopping list. Any you guys recommend? I don't see any Haynes or Chilton manuals.

Eric here you go.
[IMG]Welcome to FTE

Why mess (in more ways than one) with the old by-pass cannister oil filter when you can install a gen-u-ine Ford full flow Spin-On oil filter using its adapter kit instead?

While this kit was introduced in 1957, it was an option on some 1957/64's. I just looked this same puppy up for a member of the 1961/66 forum.

B7A-6882-A .. Spin-On Oil Filter Adapter Kit - Use with Motorcraft FL-1A Oil Filter (most common oil filter used 1957/96) / Obsolete / 1,537 (!!) available NOS.

Passenger Car/Truck applications: 1952/53 215 I-6 / 1954/64 239/256/272/292/312 Y blocks / 1954/64 223 I-6.

Some sources that have the kit =

The LINCOLN-MERCURY OLD PARTS STORE in Clearwater FL has 5 = 727-445-7551.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 8 = 800-543-4959.

PARTS INTERNATIONAL in Farmers Branch TX has 10 = 888-77-0418.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 1,475 (!) = 800-476-9653.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
EAA-6838-A .. Cartridge Oil Filter Gasket-Between Cannister & Mounting Plate / Obsolete

Passenger Car/Truck applications: 1952/53 215 I-6 / 1954/64 223 I-6 / 1954/64 Y blocks.

GREEN SALES has 9.

CARPENTER has 20.

DICKERSON MOTOR CO. in York SC has 32 = 803-684-4225.
