HIDS on pre 2013 models

Well i been looking into if these HIDS will fit the pre 2013 models. dealer looked into it and says that as far as he has found out nothing has changed in the mounting areas for the lights so it should be a straight swap. Sure it wont be cheap but i have wanted HIDS the whole time on this thing.

Any idea what the cost is to factory order them on the f150?

Its a 600$ option on the mustangs, 600$ wouldn't be too bad, same $ as an aftermarket type projector housing.

I'll be watching this closely. I'd love some HIDs for my 2011, but I'm leery about the aftermarket solutions, and would be willing to pay a bit more for OEM quality.

If Ford is smart, they'll make this available as a kit for the 09-12 trucks.

It's not just HID, there's also the matter of making it automatically go up and down. I can tell if a car had aftermarket HIDs - it will not lower while the car's accelerating and it bothers the hell out of me.

No, its not just an HID, the 13's have projectors, which doesn't allow the HID light to scatter.

Not all vehicles with HID and projectors have automatic adjusting lights.

I know for sure the Benz C300 had it automatically leveling.. my neighbor fitted custom HID lights on his Benz and it was very annoying.

I remember riding in a Bronco and I could see the entire interior of cars in front of us being completely lit and feeling bad for the poor saps in front!

There's an online store called The Retrofit Source that produces Projector kits that are essentially drop in kits. All you have to do for installation is: Remove your headlights, Take the lenses away from the body of the headlight, Install the Projector housings and Reinstall everything in reverse.

Their website is theretrofitsource.com.

Hi All! I have wanted to do HIDs on my Van and found this link on another site - Great write-up by MustangMatt96GT on installing in an OBS F350 and some Great pictures along the way. Think he said it was about $400 back in November 2011.

What I hope is that when you buy the lights they come with the entire wiring loom & ballast. If not than that is going to be an SOB to sort out. My goal for my '11 is to get the new Lariat or Limited grille, HID lights, the new '13 model year tow mirrors, Raptor twin exhaust, and possibly the new Limited wheels.

No thanks, $2-$3K in mods is still cheaper than the $20k difference in price between what I paid for my XLT .vs a new Limited lol.

Plus I don't need leather, Nav, moonroof and all the glitter. Just a few niche parts to make my XLT a little more special.

Well, I don't know if this is an official Ford aftermarket part, but someone is selling 2013 HID lights on eBay: NEW 2013 Ford F-150 BLACK HID Headlights - PAIR - Left + Right - Decontented | eBay

Caution: the price may cause fainting.
