Fly Fishing in SoCal?

So my wife and I did a little fly fishing on our honeymoon and we are hooked....pun intended. Anyone know of any good spots in SoCal? Any fellow anglers have any tips for good books on local streams, especially any that cover the biology of socal streams so we can figure out what flies to use.

I'm not a flycaster myself. But I would often see them on the San Gabriel River, east fork. And I haven't been on the west fork, but I think it might be even more popular over there.

What I can tell you is that there are a lot of very active fly casting clubs in So Cal. The one in Downey is very active and I looked into joining them years ago. But you can probably find one closer to you.

Thanks Bill! I haven't had a chance to do much searching yet and their page led me to a bunch of other good resources. Didn't realize there were so many flycasters in SOCAL. found a store in Fullerton that's about 20 min away and does fly tying lessons which my wife and I both want to do. Thanks Again!

Well if anyone is interested in Fly Fishing at all, I never knew how big the SoCal fly fishing community was. I found what seems to be a decent size Fly Fishing store in Fullerton...

Bob Marriott's Fly Fishing Store: Fly Fishing & Tying Gear, Equipment, Travel & Apparel

They have a bunch of educational offerings for beginners. Dyani and I are taking the free Fly Fishing 101 class on June 30th and then a Beginning Fly Tying class on July 15th. Should be a good time. There is also an Orvis(big fly fishing retailer) retail store in Pasadena.

Uploaded a few pics to my photobucket album from our first trip together.
