Question Ok... what is this on the drivers' side of my 1978 F250 ?

Ok... this has been stumping me since I bought Rustoleum last sunday.

What was this apart of ? :

Here is a second picture (with what writing it has on it) :

My brother in law thinks this maybe a part of a CB antenna but even then he ain't even sure. Please... I beg y'all FTE'ers to tell me what this was a part of.

It would have been some place else. Motorola (which makes a lot of stuff now) used to make aftermarket CB radios, among other things. The factory Ford CB antenna went where the cowl-mounted radio antenna went, and served both purposes. It looked different than a normal radio antenna.

Yep, old antenna mount. My 79 bronco had just that part on it in the rear, never did remove it. Somebody had one of those old tall spring whip antennas on it. Good for trimming small overhanging tree branches with . Reminds me of the 70s with all the C B chatter going on.

Question

I'm glad that I finally know what that is (with some help). The question is now... should I put the CB & antenna back in/on Rustoleum or not when I start fixing him/her/it.

I'm currently thinking about putting another CB radio in my truck as soon as I make my truck driveable & street legal (none of the lights work on Rustoleum). I can see how a CB would be helpful for Zombieland.

Well it is food for thought. I'm not even sure if the wiring for the CB is still in Rustoleum. I would think that it would be cool to put the CB back in it. The question now is... how much does it cost to buy a CB radio.

Oh not very much at all! Between 40-200. Now mine was like 110 because it's almost top of the line for cobra cb's. Has weather station and all kinds of tuning ****. You can get a very good cb for eh id say 60-70 bucks. Antenna kit from radio shack is 40 bucks

Thanks for sharing the information with me. I'll be sure to remember this when it is time to put the CB with antenna back into Rustoleum.
