Passenger side window problems

I recently bought a 99' f350 thanks in need of a few repairs. This is one of the last things i need to fix. When i would hit the switch try to raise or lower the passenger side window i would get nothing. So i took the door apart and found the the gear for the motor blew apart so i replaced the motor and regulator and the window will go down now but not up. Now what really has me confused is i hooked up a mulitimeter the the motor connecter and its getting power and i bench tested the motor and it works both ways. So as i stand right now the only way the window will move is down from the passenger side switch only. Does anyone have an idea of what this could be?

I would look at the switches as the culprit... you've already had the door panel(s) off, so you know how the switches are held in place...

>>> Before starting, it doesn't hurt to install a new fuse - letting you know you have adequate electrical current <<<

1) Pop off both switch assemblies (w/o removing the door panels).

2) Gain access to the rear of the switches... you will find several screws (4?) holding the actual switches to the wiring looms.

3) Remove the screws, separate the switches from the looms (they pull apart - without anything else holding them together).

4) The switches have plastic tabs holding them in place... take your time in removing the switches from the panels.

5) Clean the switches and wiring looms with electrical cleaner... visually inspect for any loose wiring from the loom to the switch mounting bracket.

6) Test the switches for continuity.

7) Test the looms for continuity.

8) If all of the switches and looms show they are working then re-install.

9) Replace any individual switches if they are dead.

10) Trace back any broken wires if the looms show dead circuits.

*** The switches themselves are often the culprit. Years of being subjected to careless folks, flimsy design, and the environment take their toll (especially water getting inside of the door panels)***

You might also consider replacing the door/ window rubber (seals), since they are not too expensive and not that complicated to replace (save for using patience as your friend). New seals will make things (mostly) watertight and a bit quieter.

Good luck...

A faulty switch on the driver's side will cause the passenger side to do strange things. I had the same symptom you describe and the first thing I did was spray some electrical parts cleaner onto the switching contacts at the driver's side door. To my surprise everything began working shortly after that and it's been fine ever since.

I don't really understand what I did to fix it but I wasn't complaining.
