Was the stock tailgate latch/handle painted or chrome?

 

My 66 CC is painted.

 

Galvanized and painted.

 

 

Neither, not galvanized either. If y'all had referred to what DC's 1957/66 truck repro parts catalog lists, you'd be wrong again.

1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog / Text ~ Body Section 400 ~ Page 12:

C4TZ-99431B82-A .. Styleside Tailgate Latch Handle ~ Cadmium plated.

Applications: 1964/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD.

Another Carpenter mish mash: DC lists this part number as zinc plated. Lists: C7TZ-99431B82-A (1967/72 chrome handle) for 1964 /72.

Lists a FAKE C7TZ part number for 1964/72: stainless handle . DC made up this phony part number to describe his stainless version.

Cannot spell either, says: C4TZ-99431C78-B .. Tailgate Latch Handle Mounting Plate ~ Cadium plated. At least he got the part number right, and...

Now y'all know that this (1964/72) mounting plate is also Cadmium plated, not painted, chromed or galvanized!
