Got a lead on a parts truck

My buddy just called me and said a guy he works with has a '94 F350 4x4 with a blown 460 for parts. Here's the thing though, it has the D60 front akle and F350 fender badges, but it is an ext. cab short bed. I may be wrong, but they didn't make an OBS F350 ext. cab short bed that I've ever seen. I told him it was probably a 250 with the D60 swapped in and 350 fender badges. Anyway, he said the body was in real good shape and the guy wants $1600 for the truck. I'm gonna call him and try to do some trading with him, cause I'd like to have the D60 for my ext. short bed! I hope I can get it!

Oh I'm gonna if I can work out a trade. The only thing I have to trade with right now is my 2000 Ranger. I've put a new Jasper engine it about 4000 miles ago, plus a lot of other stuff, and I've got right at $5000 in the Ranger. I just called the guy and he has several trucks and parts. He's got a '95 F150 4x4 that's been hit in the front, but otherwise has a perfect body and a good 302 engine. I'm thinking if he can come up with enough parts or parts trucks for a decent trade, I'll be doing an axle swap real soon!

If you're really curious about the model / body style confusion, just run the VIN.

I'm sure they didn't make an F350 ext. cab short bed, but if it's got a good D60 under it, I don't care what it is LOL!! It's supposed to have a good body too. I'll find out in the morning! I won't be able to sleep tonight LOL!!

Well, I went and looked at the trucks. I checked the vin on the ext. cab short bed truck and it was originally an F150 2wd. The body has been put on a 250 frame and 350 running gear swapped in. I got the numbers off the front diff cover and the D60 is a 88.5 to 91 kingpin axle. The truck has a near perfect body, and a blown 460 and C6 auto trans. He said the engine still turns over that it's not blown, but I'm calling it blown.

The other truck is a '96 F150 4x4 reg. cab long bed with a little front end damage. It is complete minus auto trans and steering column. It has a low mileage 302 in it and again a near perfect body.

He said he would trade both trucks for my Ranger, or the ext. cab short bed with the D60 and some cash for my Ranger. Either way I go, I'm gonna take a big hit on the Ranger, but I knew when I dumped all that money in the Ranger, that I would never be able to get it back out of it, so I was kinda expecting it. I'm gonna do some thinking on it the rest of the day and try to decide what to do. I can tell you this, I would really like to have that D60 LOL!!......and the cash would come in handy right now too!
