Hard starting 2001 F350

Went to start my F350 this morning and for the first time was hard to start. The weather here is between 65-110 throughout the day. I have never had any issue except for today and is continuing. I wait for the engine light to go out (Glow plug light) and try to fire the truck up.

It takes several cranks but does fire up. The engine light (glow plug light) comes back on for a cpuple of seconds then goes back out. I run the truck until the temperature is good and hot.

Turn the truck off wait a couple of minutes turn the key to the on position wait for the (glow plug light) to go off then start the truck back up. After the trucks starts up and runs the (glow plug light) comes back on for a couple of seconds then goes out again.

The truck runs good once started but is just hard to start.

re hard starts

Same here and I have a feeling it,s fuel starved San Francisco is not a cold city so ruling out the cold and glow plugs and the one thing li the mechanical chain are the injectors and air in the lines not allowing fuel to flow or be pumped into the cylinders.. Any thoughts

Make sure you have 12 volts on the batteries. Even if the starter seems to spin over strong, you MUST have at least 12 Volts (I want to say for the injector module to do its thing) Good luck!

my first response and thank you not a lot of bone stock guys

Good point only had this for about a month so the learning curve is steep and at 65 do not need extra wrenching. This is my first vehicle with modules and computers. Will check voltage. Changed oil to Delo which helped war up time Will be using it for road trips when no longer working. Any other seniors out there?

Sounds like what happened to me when my injector module went out (on my old 6.0L, so different engine, but still). Once the engine was warmed up, it would run fine, but at some point it will refuse to start at all. Might want to get it checked out.
