What is the replacement/upgrade for the FS-10 A/C compressor?

I decided it's time to fix my A/C system. Its been a couple of years now. I have the FS-10 A/C compressor on my 7.5L. For a long time I had a link to an A/C website that sold a replacement compressor for the FS10. The website explained that the problem with the FS10 design was that it did not have an oil sump. A slight leak (loss of oil) would kill the compressor quickly. There was another compressor model they recommended that was a direct bolt on that had a sump (at least as much of a sump as you can have on a rotary compressor).

I can't recall the model now and the website link isn't working. I guess I waited too long.

Has anyone heard about this - and what brand/model that compressor might be?

Thanks

Ditto! The clutch on mine went out because the seals blew.

Nothing wrong with the FS-10 design, and as far as I know, there is no drop-in replacement that is a different design. Almost all compressors (not just Ford) don't have an oil pump, they rely on the oil suspended in the refrigerant.

Just replace it with a good (New not reman) stock one, make sure you change at least the Drier and orifice tube and have the rest of the system flushed.

The only automotive compressors that I know of that had actual sumps were the old York single or twin-piston compressors used back in the 60s/70s
