Apple Pie

Apple Pie.
I just had a BIG slice of homemade apple pie, that my darlin' wife made, on Sunday.

Thick, Flaky crust. Filled with apples. Wow!!
Tart, yet sweet. Delicious!

The only thing missing. . . . . is my Dad sittin' here, having a slice with me.
Apple Pie was my Dad's favorite dessert.

Nothing beats Apple Pie, or Chocolate Pie. (I'll take either!)

Show of hands. . . .
Who likes Apple Pie??????

Other dessert your favorite???? How 'bout it?????
Let's hear your favorite(s), and why.

Ya, I like apple pie. My wife makes a yummy apple pie. She makes all kinds of deserts that I like but apple would be on top of the list. Rubarb custard is another favourite.

I'll have pretty much any kind of pie, I'm not particular. I'm the primary pastry chef in our household.

Been making rhubarb pie most recently.

Banana cream pie is also excellent.

Try apple pie sometime with a slice of cheddar cheese melted on top. Good stuff.

I had to move my rubarb patch this year and it's not doing so well right now, I may have to come over for a piece.

I only like two kinds of pie.

Hot, and cold.

What's really good is a NY-style sour cream apple pie. I just had the last piece of a strawberry pie for lunch.

Also like custard, pumpkin, blueberry and banana cream pies...

As far as other desserts I like to many to list..

Ice cream is my number one favorite dessert then comes puddings.
After that the pies, cookies and cakes come in last...

Now I want dessert..

I like Pecan, Apple, Peach, Cherry, etc., etc. You get the idea. My problem is once started I can't stop with just one slice. I can more easily resist the first piece. Once I give in, I'm a goner.

As a cook and a baker, I've yet to meet a dessert that I couldn't master.

Homemade apple pie is tops for me.
Blueberry pie is tops too.

Strawberry Rhubarb pie with raspberries and small chunks of granny smith apples is heaven sent with some homemade whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Then again, I'll any pie except mincemeat pie.

Sometimes the most simple, uncomplicated things are the most enjoyable. Somewhere in my archive of recipe's there is an older one for a basic apple pie, intended to be used with all natural ingredients, nothing too artificial. Add in some fresh Granny Smith apples and you've got a mouth puckering formula that's a sure fire diet breaker!

Not much can replace a missing loved one who might also enjoy a good dessert though.........

My beloved Grand-Mom used to cook everything on an old cast iron wood-burning 'cookstove'. (She didn't have electricity in her home, until 1961!)

I can still see her standing beside that cookstove, taking out one (or two) of her pies.
Heaven!!!!!!!!!

The mention of strawberry-rhubarb pie gives me that flashback!
My Grand-Mom used to make the BEST pies!!!

Heck, anything she cooked, was 'the best'!!!!! She could put an 'over easy egg' in front of me, and it was 'the best'!!!

Oh, how I long for the "Good Ole Days", on her farm!

And my wife's Mom. . . . wow!!!!! That little ole Kentucky born/raised woman made one of the absolute best chocolate pies that I've ever stuck into my pie-hole!!!!!

I do believe I'm becoming a sentimental old fool. (Or is that just 'an old fool'?? Ha!)
