96 F150 Brake Problems

I have a 96 F150 4x4 with a 5.8l Engine, Automatic w/ OD and Cruise Control.....My Brake and ABS light comes on almost immidiatley after driving for a min or two.....when it does the pedal gets hard and I have little brake power....also, the rear brakes will lock up.....

I have replaces a couple hard lines, Calipers, hoses, pads, shoes, wheel cylinders, spring kit, Drums, rear ABS senser, master cylinder and all new fluids....bleed them well....no changes in this problem...anyone have any ideas cause I am all out and at the end of my rope...

Thanks

Looks like there is a lot of info here - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...an-eec-iv.html

There are a couple of ways to do it. Try one and if you have trouble, let me know.

I'll also add...I have pulled the codes via the jumper method and while it works, I think it is just a lot easier to spend $40 and get a code reader from an auto parts store. When I read the codes I connect my reader, push a button, walk away, and when I get back it's done.

AFIK there is only one place to pull codes from these vehicles. The brakes (ABS computer) should report back to the EEC-IV. Sounds like the only thing you haven't replaced is the ABS computer (should be behind the glove box). Not sure if they ever go bad or not.

I've looked on-line and all the code readers will only scan ABS codes for 1997 and newer with 4 wheel ABS...mine is a 96 with 2 wheel ABS on rear only.....anyone have any other suggestions as to whats left that can be bad I can replace?

Im having a similar problem and what fixed the trouble light for me was replacing a bad connector for the ABS/VSS.
