Question Plugged Bad Cat, I think?

Hi all

Been a busy boy and have put a ton of miles on my E lately. I just had the E-test done and I just squeaked by. I am down on power and have a slight hesitation/stumble when I accelerate. Mileage is down too!

Plugs and COP's were done just over a year ago with Motocraft plugs and eBay COPs. I have new plugs ready to go in and will check the COP's when I get them out.

I think the Cat is done and wonder about replacing it. I really like the Magnaflow Cats, they work great on my Stang. Any input here?

I'd replace the O2 sensors first. Easier and cheaper and if they haven't been replaced they are due. How many miles on the van?

I have only heard of a cat pluging up if the engine runs way rich and the cat overheats from all the extra fuel it has to burn and the matrix breaks down from this overheating.

200,000 miles and climbing.

Good idea changing the O2 sensor. Will do.

Are you seeing any codes on your scanner? 02 sensors should show something if failing or running out of spec?

I was always under the impression the O2 sensors would trigger something---my Actron scanner has a mode to check just the emissions system components----you're running a ScanGauge?

On my last van a plugged cat caused a valve to drop and grenaded the engine..It was a 300-6 on propane to boot....and as far as O2 sensors go they should set a code when they fail ....
