I have a 96 F250 460. I went up some dirt trails yesterday to go shooting. Wasn't extreme at all, but was pretty bumpy

After about four miles, my truck just died. It wasn't on a hill, but was on some relatively flat ground. When I would turn the key over, you could hear the fuel pump pressurizing everything like normal, but it was very loud and not normal. It would start up, but felt like it was misfiring and was really shaky and would eventually die (after about 15 seconds). This would happen with both fuel tanks. My friend, who was with me, is a mechanic and he pushed on some valve (don't remember the name) under the hood and fuel sprayed out like normal, and he said that the fuel pressure was fine. Air didn't seem to be clogged. Spark (maybe a ground) problem?

We let it rest for a while, and when we turned it over again the fuel pump was still very loud, but it started up strong. We tried turning around, but about halfway up a hill it died out again.

By letting it rest, starting it, and traveling 1/4 mile at a time, we were eventually able to get it to the top of the hill. We then proceeded to coast down about 4 miles to the paved road after (truck died, so just in Neutral). Once we got down to the paved road, I turned the key and the fuel pump sounded normal! Started up strong, and was able to drive to my parents house and then my house with absolutely no problems, about 15 miles.

Any ideas?? Because it seems to be fine now, and I'm not sure what could have caused this
