Question Can't get Hyd. Clutch working

After replacing the external slave cyl on my super duty, filling it first with fluid as the manual indicates, the only thing I have is half a clutch pedal.
I let fluid run out the bleeder which is on the slave cyl and also tried pump and bleed which made a nice mess of fluid spraying all over the frame.
I've put over a pint of additional fluid thru it only to end up with 1/2 a clutch pedal.

Has anyone done this operation with success, as it seems once again those idiot engineers at ford have managed to make a simple repair/replacement difficult.
With the bleeder at the lowest point in the system I can't figure how to force what air may be left in the system to bleed out.....since air goes up not down.
