2002 F-350 No power / blue smoke
I need some advice. I recently purchased a used 2002 F-350 7.3 PSD and have done some work on it but have a new problem.
I started the truck yesterday morning and it ran a little rough and made some blue smoke. It had no power and I could barely make it down the street a 1/4 mile. After about 2 minutes, the engine smoothed out and it ran "normal". It started and ran fine two more times that day.
Today, the first start of the morning did the same no power start. No CEL or other indicators. I don't have a code reader yet but from reading some of the other posts, it looks like I need to get one.
Any thoughts on where to look? Maybe the UVCH? Fuel system?
Thanks for any help.

It could be a UVCH, usually they don't get better like that, but it could be. Can you verify the EBPV is not closed while it is doing this. This time of year the EBPV shouldn't be closing to much and limiting power like they do in the cold winter months.
Next time it does that, pull one of the connectors for the UVCH connection. If the truck dies, reconnect it. Then pull the other one. If it runs the same that is the side to look into. Usually with a UVCH you will have a P1316 code and a CEL.
If you are looking for a scanner, Look into Autoenginuity.
