Steady throttle

Steady throttle
Hey yall, here recently i have noticed a real bad surge when trying to hold a steady throttle. It seem mostly to occur when driving slowly through a parking lot, leaving a stop sign or holding a steady pace about 35mph.
The truck runs like a top then seems to start surging then all of a sudden starts accelerating on its own. Really wierd. Im thinking it might be a bad TPS but installed a new oem one from Ed bout 2 years back.
Any other ideas

Also, make sure you haven't lost the weird nut on your IPR, or that it's not severely loose. Another thing to check is to disconnect the connector on the ICP sensor. You want to rule out whether it's bad. While disconnected, check for any oil leak coming through the sensor. You shouldn't have any oil in the electric plug.

Ok guys thanks for the input. It seems to be real bad in the mornings when the truck is cool. This is when the prolbem seems to be the worst. Later in the day not quite so bad.
Now Greg the other morning it was doing it bad i set the cruse at 35 or 40 and tge prolbem never went away.
Tailgate - more info on what you mentioned.i need a remiender on where the two are located and what to look for in a prolbem. Isnt the nut on the back of the hpop ? How loose is too loose and what should it be torqued to. On the sensor where is it located? On the top inside driver side of the block correct? What am i looking for to be bad or how to test? Thanks

Ok my prolbem seems to be getting worse. It was real bad this morning. i checked the nut on the ipr and its tight. Also checked the icp. It looks fine no oil or anything comming out arround it or from the inside of the connector.
It seems to occur while holding a steady throttle at a mid to high rpm. This morning bout 2000 rpm in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears. I turned off the od ran bout 40 mpg and it was surging bad. I turned on the cruse and it seemed to stop from what i could tell. I was on some what of a hilly road so the truck was wanting to accelerate with the cruse.
I just installed a new pedal assy which i thought had a dead spot in it. Im going to give it a go and see. Like i mentioned before it seem to really act up when its cool like in the morning. So it might be later tomm to see if it worked.
The pedal assy or tps i just removed was only about 2 years old, new stright from ed. Cant really see it going bad that quick. Im guessing its gotta be something else prolly fuel related. But im not rueling the tps out at the momet. Any ideas or suggestions?

There is a small possibility you could have a clogged screen in your pickup foot, inside the tank. That could cause some fuel pressure issues that might show up this way. So, you may want to get around to doing the Hutch or "in tank" mods at some point.
Maybe try this...put your truck on the block heater over night, and see if you have surging the next day when you first take it out. Sometimes there is an issue with the way the computer powers the engine due to EOT and other temp sensors. Just curious if the problem goes away with a warm truck.

Tailgate - awesome advice. I have been planning on hutch and harpoon for awhile its on my must do list for shure. All though i only run about 16gal through my tank then i fill up, so it never in the past 4 years has come close to empty , but dosent mean it still couldent pick up some trash.
On the block heater really smart idea. Although i think my plug is bad. Living in florida we dont need them much. Havent used it in 3 or more years. Tried once this winter and i dident hear the plug arc when i plugged it in and couldent tell if it actully was working. I think i need a new plug ...lol.
Im going to check for any other filters in the fuel line aswell like christof mentioned
Im trying my old pedal assy in the morning to see if thats the prolbem so i can rule that out.
Thanks yall keep it coming and i will give yall updates

BBT:
If you have access to an air hose, disconnect the fuel line at your fuel pump that goes backward to the tank (the "pre-pump" fuel line). MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR GAS CAP OFF. Then gently blow a few short blasts of air down the fuel line back towards your tank.
If you simply have some debris around the metal screen, this may blow enough of it out to help give you a bit better fuel flow temporarily.
