Dana 60 conversion with shackle reversal completed!

thanks, i have the open frame so i was interested in this setup here (dont have to box the frame) however i feel as tho it may be better to box it, i'm just concerened my welder can't get the job done (harbor frieght 80 amp stick) and am also worried about the time spent off the road (daily driver). glad to here the f350 springs will get the job done, the superduty ones seam to involve alot of axle repositioning as far as where its going to sit in the wheel well, i already have zero rates in the rear and think it would be a little funny to have them front and rear, haha.

Muddin,
the problem with small welders, is they don't produce enough heat to penetrate, so if you have a torch, you can pre-heat the weld and get better penetration. You are better off with a welder that can do the job right though. After all this thing is going on the road! The swap doesn't take that long. Getting old bolts loose is one of the toughest parts. If you get everything off, you should be able to do it in a day. If your old calipers are good, they are exactly the same from a dana 50 ttb to a dana 60, so just pull them off and leave them hooked up. Also the old drive shaft will bolt up to the new yolk, measure from yolk to yolk before you disassemble the old one, and set the new axle at the same distance.
You will be glad you did it. Hope it goes well,
Mac

The F350 has an dropped pitman arm, 2wd trucks do not, I don't know what the Dana 50 on F250's use.
The steering gear and steering wheel/shaft should be the same through all F250's and F350's of that era (possibly the same on F150's?)
