Guys
Just want to say a special thank you to JB78f150. He took the time this afternoon to drive my tired trans to Hughes Performance all the way in downtown PHX.
THANKS Jon! Pete said turn around would be 8-10 days. They're going to go completely through it and sharpen up the shifting as best as can be done on a Cruise o matic, and he will rework the converter to give the truck more low end punch and performance off the line. Not much else to be done with that model. Said it's reliable enough but it's obsolete and was replaced by the much better C6 which I neither have nor think I need at this point.

I met Greg (Shake-n-bake) today, he stopped off at my house on the way home from work and scanned my F450 and Excursion for me so I could have a baseline on them, so I could see what was going on with them. They both seem to be running good, and the AE confirmed that. He adjusted the speedo on the Excursion for the tires it has on there too.. I really need to get an AE for my laptop. That thing is handy!
Thanks Greg!

I love the Cummins motor, If I had the money I would do a Cummins swap on both of my Fords.
In the 10 years or so I have owned it. I have put close to 200k miles on it. I wish it was a crew cab though, then it would be a better family ride now. I figure I will keep it till it is dead now, unless someone offers me a lot of money for it.
Over the years I have put 3 clutches in it, 2 transmissions, probably 6 lift pumps, 1 injection pump, I lifted the head on it a year or so ago, I hit 55PSI boost, that is with everything stock under the hood with just a lot of fuel added,( i know that because the chip has a tattle tale on it.) I passed my brother while I was pulling a trailer coming up Usery Pass just after the River turn off, I went out and around him at 80 MPH, i didn't even know anything was wrong till I backed in at the house and saw the trailer was wet..... it now has a new head and studs. Sad thing is I barely drive it anymore. I have not put 1000 miles on it this year. I changed the oil in it in May of 2011, and still have over 2k left on a 5k oil change. The tires are starting to really dry rot on it now. I can't bring myself to pay for a new set, I am looking for a set of used 35's or a set of factory take offs that will fit.

Should be a beauty!!
My wife is disappointed in the rain today sort of.... 9/11 is her birthday and she has been in the habit of having me hang our giant flag on the front of the house in memory of the tragedy.... She's not too worried about raining on it but if it whips up a heavy wind it's too much for her to climb to the eve of the second floor and take it down... Might have to wait for the weekend.
Hope everyone enjoys the day!!

Howdy guys hope everybody has a good day. I got lots to be done after school work. Craig yesterday night I drove my buddies 99 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 magnum pretty powerful but we were both hauling a flatbed trailer with tires and the Ram couln't keep up with 86 F150 but I was pretty impressed as far as it did keep up.

I like it, I have owned it for a LONG time, I have broke lots of parts, mostly from hot rodding it and not doing it right the first time.

I wish I would of bought a Dodge years ago. I had a 90 D250 360, 4 speed & it was a 2 wheel drive other wise I would still own it. It was a real good truck. I ran the crap out of it. In fact I thought about putting a 400 or 440 in it to tow our trailer. The 400 with a 440 crank makes one wicked torque motors. They will give a 512 Ford a real run for there money.
A buddy of mine has about 5 of the 12 valve Cummins in Dodge trucks. His boy has his pumped up pretty good. Big injectors pump mods etc. My buddy has a 2000 3500 with all the Banks stuff on his 12 valve. They have a 6500 Chevy & F650 Ford both with Cat Motors, The Ford his boy use to use to pull his drag car until it left him on the side of the road. The problem with the Ford was a Cat problem with the computer something that is a real problem with that Cat & Fords. Now he uses the Chevy.
Trav, That Dodge was playing with you or he didn't know how to drive. You give me any good 360 LA motor & I'll run the 5.8 Ford into the ground.
Back in the day I had a new 79 CK 20 Chevy 4x4 350 4 speed 3:73 gears. A buddy had a new 79 Ford F250 4x4 400 4 speed 3:55 gears & we raced 90 miles & he was 10 minutes behind me. I was drinking beer in the bar when he showed up & I kept drinking on him.

I bought mine last year for $5500 with 72,000 miles from the guy that bought it new. I don't use it much except to tow. I think I have 76,000 miles on it. It has cost me nothing except routine maintenance. I sure can't say that about the 86 F250 4x4 460/C6 I bought used when it was 11 years old the Dodge I bought @ 12 years old The Ford had 123,000 on it. It about broke me. I had easily over $12,000 into it. When it left the wife & I on the side of the freeway in rush hour traffic in Las Vegas in July it was history. I had only put 60,000 miles on it in 13 years.

I saw the original owner, who by the way, had bought a brand new F250 CC 4x4 7.3 on the freeway, he had it chipped up and all. I saw him, turned up my chip, he punched it and I did too, I LEFT him like he was in reverse, and he called me and was like what did you do to that truck, I pulled off and we swapped so he could drive it. He left me, and I had his truck to the floor, and he was still pulling away from me. It was not even close. He just shook his head and said man, I never knew it could run like that, I screwed up!
I might have had my Cummins over 130MPH on the freeway a few times, it is amazing how that engine pulls. The only times it has been towed was when the front hub bearings when out on it, and when I broke the input shaft on the trans. It had some Weld racing wheels on it that had lots of offset on them and it ate wheel bearings every 12-25k miles. I changed rims and it has not had any problems since. I got really good at changing bearings on it though. I ran Autozone brakes on it since when the bearings went, it would eat the rotors and pads. I can't say how many times I have warrantied them out.... I really don't know..
