fuel issue, pump?

02 5.4 auto. truck will only run if you spray some gas directly ito the intake, runs fine till its source runs out. Added 10l of fuel as ot was lind of low. Truck sat for almost a year before we got it goin today. When i turn ignition on i dont hear the pump turn on. all fuses checked out good. could the pump itself be bad? Also is it intank?

If the truck sat that long the gas is stale and likely won't hardly burn even with a match..
The high ends evaporate and leaves the heavey lower ends of the formulation leading to a gum that could stick the pump fast.
No pump no run and even if the pump runs there is no gaurenty the motor will run on the old gas.
It's not like the old days any longer when the gas had but different amounts of T- lead.
Good luck.

Were prepared to do fuel pump.
Just thought of this, truck was in a frot end collision, was towed to the shop and sat there for a year. Maybe its just the fuel pump safety switch? ill check that first thing when im back at the shop. If its good..well try taking the bed off..

The crash will certainly open the crash sensor switch as it's supposed to do so the pump cannot start or feed a fire..
You didn't mention that until now.
