Out with the old, in with the new. The legendary Crown Victoria has been retired, and the California Highway Patrol has chosen the new Explorer for it's replacement. At the very least they'll be easy to spot on the road. Good for us, bad for them.
^^^^ Thanks for the link sir. I should have been more clear and asked if the Taurus was doomed since CHP was opting for the Explorer. It only takes the power of suggestion to influence other's decisions.

Since they are now based on the same platform it really doesnt matter if Ford sells one or the other. A lot of small agencies in California buy the same as the CHP, but not the big ones. I can see SB County going from the Expy to the Exploder. We are the largest county in the contiguous 48 states, with high mountains and vast deserts. A more economical SUV would be perfect for the sheriff. The first SUV was the Toyota 4runner with dual A/C for K9 units.
While I'm a die hard Ford fan, I don't understand this decision. Especially with fuel prices the way they are. The community I live in has a fair number of SUVs or trucks, but then again, we get snow and have large rural areas that don't have roads.
