IS THIS A NORMAL VIBRATION?
When towing my fifth wheel (about 11k pounds) I get a slight shudder off the line. I can feel it just a little bit with a hard unloaded launch. To me it feels like the U-joints are binding under the torque load. I have a 172" wheelbase 4x4 with two piece shaft. Just want to know if they all do this or if I have to go camp out at the Ford store.

There have been very few with bad torque converters but with worse symptoms than you describe. Might want to search that topic.
On the other hand, these engines and transmissions are applying record numbers of torque to the ground. Honestly, it's an awful lot of power being applied to medium duty components and tires. I think a little axle wrap and general "complaining" from the drive train would be expected. But, you could chase the torque converter issue.

I had a similar vibration pulling my 11000 # 5th wheel. My 8ft 4x4 sc was squatted down just a little (2 or 3 in). After reading here on FTE I assumed it to be normal. I did however want the truck level when towing so took it to the local spring shop and had one leaf added to the rear springs. That seemed to take care of the problem and it really didn't effect the ride at all.
