I just swapped out my EBP tube yesterday for a new one. The old one was impacted when I got the truck 30K miles ago. I cleaned it out then with a length of thin stainless steel cable in a drill. This worked pretty well except where it broke through the tube. I was able to patch the break with thickened epoxy. This patch was still intact when I pulled the old tube yesterday. HOWEVER, the tube was occluded with carbon and perhaps only open 1/8" diameter total. I'm happy to have a new one in place that I painted before installing. The price from PartsGuyEd for the FoMoCo tube was about $38. Cheers.

I picked it up years ago at one of the local hardware stores. Here is a link to a similar item at Home Depot.

With Key On Engine Off, EBP should be fairly close to MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure). Both sensors should be reading barometric pressure when the engine is not running.

Just did this today...I removed the entire tube and it was completely blocked from end to end, even the fittings had to be reamed and cleaned. Thanks for the nice write up!

I started wearing gloves late in life, can't wait to see what I'll develop later in life. It's funny how your hands become impervious to some of the chemicals. I was working on my 62' F-350 4x4 one time and had a rag soaked in carb cleaner laying on the fender. I laid on that rag and it felt like my belly was on frickin' fire!

Where do I get a tube cleaning mini snake? Been to autozone, pep boys, and Japan but none of them know what I'm talking about. Been to a couple hardware stores and even harbor freight. No one has ever seen one before.

You may have to order one online, they are very common in the Southwest because we use them to clean the distribution tubes on our "swamp coolers" which do not exist in humid regions.

Is there a salvage yard nearby? Ask them for a old spedometer cable...that will work fine. Choke cable or brake/clutch cable from a motorbike should work. Also some trim line from a weed wacker works just as well.

Home Depot has the tool online, should be around $5 or $6...
