Clean swap. Came out very nice. Would you mind doing a cost breakdown? About how many hours did it take to do this? I want to do something very similar this year. Thanks

I am doing something similar, though it is with a 7.3 IDI replacing a 460 gasser. My biggest problem is the electrical harness under the hood.

Salvage yards are void of this critter, leaving the obvious choice to modify the gasser.

Any suggestions to what to remove and what to keep would be a great help.

205

Not meaning to bring this back to life, but where did you get the mounts for a NP205? I'm thinking of putting one behind a 2wd ZF-42

Sorry guys, don't get on here often. I do get notifications though.

I'd say including the cost of both trucks and all the parts you see here I have right about 12K in the whole setup. 3500 for each truck and 5K in parts. Probably more with preventative maintenance stuff. I dunno about 200 hours?

You can remove everything gas, Ford did an excellent job separating the engine controls and body control. I did all the wiring without a diagram even, just the owners manual for fuse location

Everything you see here is just parts from ballistic fabrication, it's all crawler/buggy/universal parts.

Hey Jaco,

I'm in the same boat with the divorced np205 trying to get it in a 1987 F350 CCLB with a Dodge Cummins 2wd Getrag setup. I got a factory crossmember out of a highboy ford but it makes the 205 sit way too low and at a 10 degree angle (I need 4 degrees) I'm going to try to modify it to fit better.

Anyway, For your front driveshaft, do you get a vibes from that in 4x4 running at speeds in snow etc? I know that D60F was setup for a CV shaft with the pinion pointed straight towards the TCase.

Right now, if I ran it like yours with a standard Ujoint shaft, I'd have about a 6-7 degree difference between the yoke angles of the front tcase output and D60F Yoke. Seems a bit much. Just wondering if I should go with a CV. I'm trying to mount the Tcase right in the middle of the axles so I can use the same length front and rear 1410 Drivelines for redundant / backup / spares if needed.

You are spot on, 6-7 degrees is pushing it, even for equal angles (RPM really has the final say). The front really should have a CV though, you're absolutely right.

My rear driveline is a 1350 CV and a 1410. I was getting vibes at 75-80 and went that route. I wish they made a legit 1410 CV that didn't cost a grand.

I don't have a CV at the front just due to cost and I only use 4wd at low speeds. I must admit though I've left hubs locked up to 50 and the vibes are not too bad but I usually only use it towing a trailer up steep hills and minor wheeling trails...

Hey guys, been a while since an update on the truck and progress. Still driving daily, and drove it to Alaska finally! Truck did really well, other than adding a few quarts of oil it didn't have any other issues on the 8000 mile trek.

I did some modifications to prepare for the trip, I built a flatbed with integrated toolboxes which was probably the largest change:

Swapped out the old Recaros for some 2008 BMW M6 seats, they match better than stock seats lol:

Added a huge 1750 CCA Odyssey battery (still single battery, but even 2 optimas would be 2000 CCA minus battery cable loss). 10.5 Diff cover:

Unreal!

You have more skills, personally, than are found in many shops' entire staff, IMO.

Thanks for sharing!

Your build thread is honestly the best one I have seen on any forum yet. I just joined this forum as I just got my very first ford, and you live here in Arizona as well. I am incredibly impressed by the work you have done here, and it has even given me some ideas (like those seats).

Awesome build! While I don't intend to run a camper back or anything like that, I intend to build up a truck for road trip out West to explore various national parks and perhaps takr a trip up through Canada.

Jaco. Impressive idea, follow thru and effort for attention to detail!

I'd like to ask about the upgrade you did to the gear vendor for lube and temp awareness.

Hello JacoFordCummins,
Again, this is another thread update request on your truck and Cummins, NP205 & Gear Vendors component swap.
How many miles since your conversion, and, what are you doing to you truck nowadays, and/or how are you using your truck, assuming you still own this truck?
Thank you in advance as I kn ow you don't visit this forum very much- -Pete
