WVO smells like PUKE

Well this sucks, i've been collecting this wvo for 8+ weeks now, and to tell ya, i could've ran straight from their fryer. Oils' been a golden clear color the whole time, and couldn't been more stoked. So, today, after collecting it last saturday, been sitting waiting for it to be filtered into my holding bin (same procedure as always), i removed the lid and couldnt believe what i saw and especially smelled. Nasty crap floating on top, and the puridy of the oil was just nasty. After tapping off 5gal, i couldnt take the smell anymore. Its like, the restaurant threw a party and everybody, who couldnt handle their liquor, decided to upchuck into my holding barrell.

Done, some "searching" on this "smell" of oil, but really no solid info as to where to go from here with it. Should i discard it, or try and clean it up?

I tranferred it into another 20gal barrell, and the last 5gal was almost unbearable with the smell and what looked like grey clobs from what looks like, started taking on life....in the blind on this one guys. Any info would really be great...thanks

I used to get batches like that when the place used Hydrogenated oil. It still worked, but usually titrated higher and didn't have as high of conversion ratio, maybe <30 gallons of bio from 37 gallons of oil rather than 32-33.

Hey Trent, i'm gonna talk to them this Saturday when i go to collect. I've seen their boxed cubies as to what they use, and its ALWAYS been 100% soybean oil. Gonna take a look because this batch was defintly not like the other 200+ gallons i've collected from them.

Me and a few buddy's think, they cleaned the grille drip or whatever, and happened to throw the meat waste into this barrell , from what i've read, the oil went into "fermenting" mode?

Would like to know what caused that too. Definitely not pleasant to work with...

Puke smell is indicative of bacteria growing in water in the oil. De-water the oil and then burn it!

Maybe that's why Hydrogenated oil seems to be worse for that smell? thanks for jumping in on that one... Would also explain the lower conversion ratio I guess...
