Fuel Pressure or Ficm????
2005 Ford F-250 Crew Cab 6.0 Harley 88,000 miles on it. Running SCT and SRL+ with studs. Blue spring upgrade with manual fuel pressure gauge. 4in straight pipe from turbo. Think that is all that is important...
About 3 months ago I did the blue spring upgrade with a fuel pressure gauge install.. The fuel pressure went up to 60 ish and stayed there.
Last week truck was running fine but was at the 10,000 mark for fuel filter replacement.
I replaced both my fuel filters and took the truck for a drive. I noticed my fuel pressure dropped to 40 psi.
I have pulled the filters, looked at the o-rings, changed back and forth between the old filters that I was getting 60 psi with and back to the new ones and no matter what I still get 35-40 psi now with a ruff start.....
I also replace top fuel cap due to small crack on corner where extension goes in with a factory ford new cap. (also got socket so no more breaking cap (56$$$).....
I then checked my batteries and 1 of the 2 was not charging enough and when starting the volts would dip to 10.5 to 11 volts. So replaced both batteries and still 35-40 psi.
Lastly I tested the FICM that I replaced less then a year ago with the ford "half shell". I tested at 47.7 with key on but no start. At start and running rough it was at 48.1 volts.
I have about 1 week left on the FICM warranty from ford.
Do the experts think the FICM is shot and needs replaced?
Or I am missing something with the filter change that I havent checked.??
Thanks for the advice...

Checked your alternator yet? On the FICM test KOEO, engine running, and I think they say run it up to 2000 rpm also. This is on a cold soak in the morning. Are you using Motorcraft filters also? I have read were Napa Gold filters have caused a 10psi decrease in pressure. May look into fuel pump. I don't think FICM effects the fuel pressure but I could be wrong. Keep us posted.

Ok so I did this test first thing in the morning with the truck sitting all night not on the battery chargers....
Batteries were at 12.58 and 12.57
KEOP I believe you mean key in the on position FICM was sitting at 48.1 volts
Truck started and running at idle FICM was at 48.3 volts.
Reving at about 2000 RPMs FICM was about 48.0 to 48.2
Checked the alternator and it does not look like it is charging so I will replace that. thanks for that suggestion... (and recommendations on what to replace it with I also do have a stereo system in it)
And yes using Racor Oil filters and Ford fuel filters bought at International. Even looked the the old and new fuel filters and have the same numbers on them.....
So are these acceptable ranges for the FICM?, will they improve with the new alternator?
And finally will this affect fuel pressure or am I dealing with two different issues???????
Thanks for the input.....

Sorry guys had a typo in my previous post... FICM at 2000 RPM was running 48.0 to 48.2..... I never got a reading of 40 was a typo...
And if this is two different issues what would cause the lower fuel pressure right after the fuel filter change.... I cant even get back to 60psi when I put the old filters back in that I was getting 60psi with????

Ok guys I finally worked out the bug and got my fuel pressure back to 60-62 psi after this fuel filter change. The pain in the *** cause......
The manual fuel pressure regulator............ The diaphragm had to be reset... That was it... Took 2 days f-ing with the filters when all along they were ok..... anyway guess my lovely problem is good to note to all others as one option as to why they lost fuel pressure after a fuel filter install.... Thanks to those who replied trying to help.....
