1995 F450 fuel problem

Does anybody have any experience with a 1995 F450 that is acting as it is running out of fuel even though there is plenty of fuel in the tank and the tank has been taken off, cleaned, and the screen replaced?

Have to be a BIT more specific. 7.5 or 7.3 engine.

7. 3 Diesel. fuel filter bowl will not stay full. I can remove the cover, fill it, start the truck and drive about a quarter mile. It stalls, then fuel bowl needs filling again. I removed fuel tank on advice from a shop, the screen was deteriorated, so i replaced it. The problem persists. The filter in the fuel bowl assembly is new. There is a another screen about the size of my index finger mounted on the side of the fuel filter assembly that seems fine. I have a tank transfer switch; could that be the culprit? There is a schraeder valve on the side of the fuel filter housing that has pressure when the motor is running, but runs out as the engine stalls. How do I know if it is the fuel pump. I don't want to throw parts at it. The pump is mechanical as far as I can tell. I went to the dealership with the vin and they gave me a diagram showing a mechanical pump.

You have a mechanical fuel pump.

Remove the fuel line from in front of the tank selector and put the hose in a coffee can of diesel and see if the truck will run. If not you have a fuel pump issue

And if the fuel pump is found to be bad, replace the 3 lines that come in and out of it.

Also another lil truck is to unbolt the hold down bracket for the pump and wiggle it loose but DO NOT pull the pump out. Take a breaker bar and spin the engine over. let the lobe on the cam push the pump UP. The plunger on the pumps are know to break off and fall into the engine when the pump is pulled. But if you let the cam lobe push it up and cant fall into the engine
