Mark is a friend of mine, and we attend the same church. He is a school teacher and also a youth sponser for our middle and high school students at church. He and his family are a wonderful example to the youth of our community and his heart and passion is for the Lord........and riding his bike.
They are leaving today for California where they will begin their journey across the country.
They will be passing through Indiana later in June.
Awesome cause and amazing family Wag...THANKS for posting this!
BTW...my butt hurts just thinking about the time in the saddle your friend will have!
Keep us posted on his progress...man across country on a bike?
He will be in our prayers for sure!
Joe.

It's a beautiful day to start a cycling trip in Oceanside. Great idea to get across that desert before summertime.

He's actually leaving Indiana today, but he is planning to start his trip from Oceanside next Sunday.
To drive straight through from Indiana to California would be a 34 hour drive. I can't imagine driving all that way just to ride my bike for 38 days across the country. I'm sure he will take a day in Cali to rest once they get there.
You mentioned desert.........I seen him yesterday with his new tires on the bike...they are gatorskin tires. He said there are some sort of thorns that blow across the road in the desert and they can puncture regular tires.....hopefully he has thought of everything.

Good afternoon Indiana Ford fans! It's 92° here in Central Illinois now, expecting to hit a high of 97° today. Everyone keep it cool.

Mark arrived in his hometown of Columbus yesterday and we had a really nice reception for him. His trip has been a life changer, for them as well as others along their way.
Today is a well deserved rest day and tomorrow they will heading east through Indiana towards the east coast.
