recommended oil viscosity f150 5L?

Is there a recommended oil viscosity for my 1996 f150 5 L ? Use 5 W 30 all year round or should i switch between that and 10W30 for summer months?

As far as I know Ford NEVER recommended 5-30 for the 5.0. They called for 10-30. And if you are a higher milage engine(over 100k) I would run 15-40 year round

Brad's right. Ford didn't recommend or even suggest the use of 5-30 for the 5.0. Ford probably figured that oil with the thickness of water wasn't going to be a suitable choice for their motors. I use 15-40 year round in my 5.8 though, never had an issue with it.

My 1990 Ford manual recommends 5W30 and 10W30 for the 5.0.
