i hate rust too. been meaning to paint mine since day one. also been thinking to tape off the tag. prolly gonna get under there tomorrow with some rustoleum flat black auto primer. just been lazy. the hardest part is the prep work.

btw heres a pic of the driveshaft from my 6.4.... i was under there one day and noticed the oddest thing - a cat had taken a stroll on my driveshaft! lol

Years ago I had a little Mazda B2200 pickup truck. I drove it to work one day (about 20 miles at 75mph), worked the whole day, then back home.

When I got home I got out of the truck and heard this long Mmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww!!

Looked all over before I found my cat had taken the ride to work, spent the day in the parking lot, and then rode back with me, on top of the spare tire!!

Snapped this photo:

painting the driveshaft

I might wallpaper mine or how about this idea, paint a rotating mural on it. Could put a picture of a cat/***** on the driveshaft.

alright, the job is done. used Rustoleum "stops rust" automotive primer:

heres before i started

then i used very fine scotchbrite to remove all the surface corrosion that had started, heres a pic of the scotchbrite test before i fully went to town

then after a tedious process of getting as much rust off of every surface and every nook and cranny, i sprayed and wiped everything down with denatured alcohol. then taped off anything i didnt want overspray on. then i started shootin black
