LOL, this is getting to be a pretty funny thread Tux. No magnets do not stick to aluminum which is what my drive shaft is made of. I don't need to try it.

OK, thanks, makes sense that different wheel base trucks would have different drive shafts.

Talk at y'all Monday!

Painting drive shafts

Just humour us and try the magnet. I used to work in a steel company before I got smart and went back to school so I know there are lots of different grades of metals. If it was aluminum and super strong that would save a lot of weight. I haven't checked my 250 sb yet but I suspect it is mostly steel. I see new trucks on the lot and the drive shafts, etc already show surface rust which bugs me. I have spray painted previous vehicles on my undercarriage, diffs, springs, drive shafts, etc and never had a problem. Haven't done it on my 2011 diesel yet but I will when needed. It makes the truck look sharper for the parts visible without going down under. And if you do it still looks like new, sharper and stops the surface rust. Putting sticky Tremclad on or rust proof rubber junk might cause an imbalance but just paint, shouldn't be a problem. Could always sand it off real quick even if it was, which I doubt. Yea, the thread with you two is entertaining.

Painting drive shafts

I used to play and later was a referee for ice hockey. And I am into MMA so I could referee you two guys at get togethers. Keep the peace.

Compared to 2-piece driveshaft on the 172" models. Mine is now made of rust.

Isn't this what we're referring to when we talk about a 'carrier bearing drop' when lifting a truck?

Yepurs. Definitly a 2 Peice. In that case one getting case of rust. 1st thing I done as soon as got truck home from dealer. Paint that crap before it rusts.

I always tape out the tag that's on the shaft. As sometimes they need them numbers.

It won't make it go faster, but dang I hate rust.

Oh you brought up polishing it. Now I'm going to have to get under there and shine mine up.
