Question 1961 Ranchero

I am new to this forum and was hoping I could find some good info before I get in over my head. HA HA HA HA I have never restored or modified a classic car. I have rebuilt a few motors and done a little body work but never a true restro. I am thinking of getting a 1961 Ranchero. It is in good shape.. could be a every day driver.. But I want to play with it a little. I was wanting to know how much mod would it take to remove the 6cyl and replace with a 289 with a c4 tranny? Would it take new mounts?? I see it only came witha 6 in it until 63 then they offered the 260 v8. Also will the mustange ll front end work well in this car??? Like I said never done this before but it looks like fun. I am mechanicaly inclined and have a full shop with all tools welder and plasma .. just wanting info so I can make my up my mind.

Thanks for any info

Larry

the MII front end bolts rite up, then you can remove the shock towers and put just about any engine you want in it. on the falcon site i am on, there is one getting with a 4.6 installed and it is about a week from fire up.
