Question Can't Remove Fuel Lines from Water Separator

Sorry if posted before. Purchased the Lisle Tool fuel line removers (angled plastic).

Try as I might, I cannot make this work. Trying to remove water separator cover & replace (bought the Ford kit, minus sensor). I understand the concept, am inserting the tool & push into the fitting and pull on the line - nothing.

I would appreciate any ideas. Thinking of trying the dealer in the morning. Sick & tired of draining water separator - and the fuel never settles out into water & fuel, just fuel.

Thanks

On the 6.4 HFCM you don't need a tool. Push the two tabs on the connector in and pull I off.

However, on the right hand side, towards the front of the truck:

Red face Got 'em off

Okay, more elbow grease & profuse cursing, added with a little patience and voila! It's off. Nasty stuff in there:

Question MODS ????

Why is my thread tagged as 6.0 ??

I tried to edit, but cannot change that. I don't see where I ever indicated I had a 6.0L??

Not getting much help - hate to think its because folks think "what's this idiot doing in the 6.4L section???"

Thanks.

If you can indicate how I should put the parts in post from 6:37 pm yesterday, I think I will be good to go. I don't think the black one came from inside, but can't be sure. Fell off when I was pulling the cover off & hoses off the cover.

Service Points - HFCM and Fuel Filters

This may help you putting the DTRM back together. It shows a 6.0 HFCM but it should be the same.

You bought the gasket kit from Ford before you did this, correct? The service bulletin I read (that was linked from here) said that was necessary as they would likely leak if reused...

If you are careful, you can reuse the manifold gasket. Most of the time it is so deformed it isn't reusable.
