Steering Wheel Gray is wearing off?

Hello,

The color on my steering wheel is wearing off of the top of the wheel. Not sure if its leather or not? The truck is a 2001 Larriot Crew Cab with leather interior. Is there a recommended paint or fix procedure for this problem?

This is an old image of the truck from a few years back, you can see the wear on wheel on this picture. Its gotten a little worse since then.

Thanks.

I have the same issue and found a grey cover that matched perfectly at the 99 cent store. A cushy perforated material of some sort that stretches over the rim. The hard part was finding a plain grey one without a stupid cartoon character on it. I figured it was a quick fix to buy time to find something better, but two years later it shows only minor wear and feels great hot or cold.

Wheelskins can also work. I have been pondering on one of those.

I have a wheelskin on my Expedition and have really liked it, though it is now peeling too. As for the truck...see my signature.

My son is raising a grey skinned Bull to fix mine. Only nine months to go. Until then I drive with my knee so it doesn't get worse.

What was the coating on the leather from the factory? Why can't I get some of that and put it on the leather?

My wife just went with the wood grain look on the parts of the wheel that tend to wear the worst. That way she doesn't have to worry about it doing it again. Plus she likes the looks of it.

Myself, I prefer the XLT wheel so I don't have to worry about worn leather stuff.

That wheel does look classy, but I'd scuff it pretty quick and that wouldn't look so good.

My XLT wheel is smoother than a spanked babies butt on the upper portion.

All the textured surface has worn away.

Pondering on the Wheelskin. or a Dallas Wheel, I Think.

I'm with F350 ! I put wood wheels on both my 99 and my 01. I think they give the rig a classy look!

I don't remember exactly where I got it! But the price is spot on what I paid for it!! I paid $500 for a wood wheel for my first Mercedes and I thought $250 was a bargain ! You will like a wood wheel and really not that much more than a stock wheel !!
