OT - Checking fuel pressure 94 Ranger 2.3

OK guys, I need a bit of help here.
My son is having some issues with his 94 Ranger 2.3. He had to replace the fuel sending unit which comes as an assembly with the fuel pump. That was all fine and dandy for a couple of weeks until the new pump crapped out. Replaced it again and this time got a week out of it.

Here's my question. My fuel pressure test gauge is an older gauge set up for the older standard sized schrader valves. When did Ford decide to go to the small sized schrader valve and does someone make an adapter to go from the older large size to the new smaller size? Can it be found at local parts stores? tool stores?....agh

Frickin' Ford and their better ideas....LOL

Thanks
Bobby

Pretty sure my gauge set has the adapter, Bobby, gimme a call.

BTW a lot of pump failures are due to bad grounds, it's on the small truck forums all the time. Also causes fuel gauge to read poorly.

My local Autozone had the fuel pressure tester and adapter as part of their loan-a-tool program. Buy it, use it and return it for a refund. Quick and easy. Check with your local AZ or Oreilly's to see if they have one.

Did you replace the fuel filter when you replaced the pump? It is a must. Had too many pumps go out because the filters weren't changed out. Just a thought. Good luck!

Man, I think I must be in a major flare up of my rectal-cranial inversion.
Years ago, back when I was wrenching I spent big bucks on a fuel pressure gauge. I just went out and dug through the detritus at the bottom of the fuel psi, vacuum gauge, compression tester drawer and guess what I found? I think I have the adapter. I didn't remember it because I mainly worked on GM products back then and hardly ever touched Fords or Chryslers.

Ross, if its not the adapter I'll come and grab yours. Bad ground huh? I'll check it out.
I did pull the filter, it was free flowing with little to no restriction. I didn't get much chance to check it out this evening, I'm kind of going on what my son relayed to me so who knows whats really happening....lol

Thanks for the tips guys
Bobby
